We have had a huge problem with woodchucks at our garden. We buried fencing as suggested earlier, by digging a huge trench and sinking the wire mesh so that 2 feet were above ground and lashed to our chain-link fence with zip-ties, 1 foot went straight down and 1 foot went straight out to get that "L"shape that is supposed to deter them. They found breech areas, like the space between the gates and the fence, so we reinforced that. Then, they started climbing the fence! So in one area where the fencing was lower, we attached clear, corrugated plastic roofing and attached it to the fence. They and other climbers slide right down that stuff, however, it is very expensive and does not allow for good air flow or esthetics.
Woodchucks are tough because they can tunnel for very long distances and have two ways in and out. We have tried throwing used cat littler into the holes and plugging that up. I think it slows them down, but doesn't send them packing! Patty Armstrong Court Community Organic Garden -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
