We are starting a new community garden, our second one, in Greenwich, CT. We have just found out that we are a good distance from the water main and there is a lot of rock ledge. The estimates we have gotten for digging and adding a line to the main are very prohibitive. There will be no structures except for the garden shed near the property, so runoff from roofs would not be an option. We also will not have electricity. I am wondering if there might be a way to use a large tank and have it filled with water, and also have it hooked up to some sort of rainwater harvesting system?
