Here is info on one occurrence of the sporadic rendering bug: on /users page, the height of the hd div and the border box for each of the users (div class "hentry row yui-gf") seems to shrink so that elements on the page appear somewhat jumbled, as seen in this screen shot:
http://swell.eps.harvard.edu/~billboos/tmp/renderbug052810.tiff Refreshing the page eliminates the error, and I captured the html from the incorrectly rendered and the correctly rendered versions, and they are identical. In firebug, the "Box Model" section of the "Computed" tab shows that the height of the divs is being set to 0.0333333px for the hentry divs, instead of the correct value of 112 px, and to 60.2px for the hd div instead of its correct value of 102.6px.
