The John Curtin School of Medical Research and the School of Computing at the
Australian National University are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow for
joint appointment of up to 3 years to work in the areas of computational
neuroscience and artificial intelligence. The successful candidate will hold
the title of Jubilee Joint Associate and work under the supervision of Jubilee
Joint Fellow Dr Michael McCullough in the Computational Neuroscience Group
within the Eccles Institute of Neuroscience and Computational Science Cluster
within the School of Computing. The Jubilee Joint Associate will undertake
independent research within one or more of the following themes:

  *
Topological structures and dynamics of brain activity on neural manifolds.
  * Network neuroscience and the brain as a complex system.
  * Computational ethology and modelling behavioural sequences.

This is an exciting opportunity to start building research independence, work
at the interface of two rapidly evolving fields, and collaborate with leading
experts in neuroscience, biomedicine and computer science.

About the John Curtin School of Medical Research
The John Curtin School of Medical Research is a leading centre of medical
research in Australia. Researchers have a tradition of excellence in addressing
the world’s most pressing biomedical issues. The Eccles Institute of
Neuroscience is an internationally recognised research institute based in the
John Curtin School of Medical Research dedicated to understanding the brain and
nervous system. The Institute is home to a diverse community of independent
research groups, with a focus on cellular and synaptic physiology, sensory
physiology, retina, and muscle.

About the School of Computing
The School of Computing has a strong foundation in computing and information
sciences at ANU. We are a transformative centre for research in artificial
intelligence and machine learning, computer systems and software, and
theoretical foundations of computing. We span traditional and modern thinking,
connecting decades of computer science methodologies with modern data and
computational science. Our mission is motivated by the need to design, drive
and sustain strategic activities via five broad focus areas: Computing
Foundations, Computational Science, Intelligent Systems, Data Science and
Analytics, and the Software Innovation Institute. Be part of an innovative and
forward-looking intellectual agenda, built on a diverse, inclusive culture.

The ANU provides attractive benefits and excellent support to maintain a
healthy work/life balance and offers generous remuneration benefits, including
four weeks paid vacation per year, assistance with relocation expenses and 17%
employer contribution to superannuation. This also includes generous parental
