The student will be part of a project called BODIES that aims at understanding the neuronal mechanisms underlying the integration of action and perception during decision making. To achieve the goal of BODIES, experiments will be performed in mice. Neuronal activity will be recorded from a prefrontal network while animals perform a navigational task in virtual reality. Further, the activity of neurons of specific populations within this network will be manipulated through optogenetics, to investigate their causal contribution to behavior. During the project, a computational model will be developed to understand and describe the observed dynamics and to make further predictions for future experiments. Technical support is provided throughout the duration of the project.
