As an update on my experience with the new 9.5.0-P2 code. I've been running the new code for a solid 55 hours and I can say that this code has definitely worked for me. The number of UDP ports is absolutely normal ( <70) and it has never produced a file descriptor error. In comparison, my other server is still running the 9.5.0-P1 code and it has more than 1100 UDP ports open and plenty of file descriptor errors.
I am now satisfied that this is the golden version and will make plans to upgrade the P1 server. Thanks ISC for being persistent in rectifying the errors and addressing the larger vulnerability.
