David, I booted a Mac Plus using System 7.1 with a Zip Drive years ago when Zip drives first came out. You must use Imomega Zip Driver 4.2 , no later version will work with a 68000 Mac. If you put your Zip disk in another drive that is higher than 4.2, the disk will have its driver updated and you will not be able to useit with the 4.2 driver again.
