First, a disclaimer: I'm looking through the archives, and will continue the
search, but I haven't found anything yet. (That out of the way ....)

I'm using System 7.1 on an SE/30. I've installed Mac TCP 2.06. I'm using an
Asante IIsi-SE/30 PDS network card.

I can see (from the various LED's) that I have a "good" physical connection
to the network hub.

My internet connection is through a cable modem, which is connected to a
router (for shared connectivity). The router is a Linksys, and is setup as a
gateway at a fixed IP address on the LAN (of course). It's also setup to
provide IP addresses.

My provider uses DHCP, so I don't have a fixed IP address. :o(

But I can easily see the DNS servers, and can enter those via the MacTCP
control Panel. I can manually enter the IP address of the SE/30 via the same
control panel, and the gateway IP address too.

But I can't seem to get anywhere past that point. And if I try pinging the
Mac's IP address (that I've assigned) from a PC, nada. Nothing. I don't get
a ping. And I obviously can't get "out" anywhere from the SE/30 (including
to the gateway, which has an html setup page).

Could it be a bad Asante card (I do know the cables are good, and I can see
the green LED on the Asante card, and the (typical) green LED on the network
switch/hub (which usually denotes a successful physical connection)?

I've followed the various step-by-step MacTCP setup pages that I've found on
the web, but all to no avail.

Any suggestions? Pointers? Am I missing something obvious here? Should I
install Open Transport (honestly, I don't even know what that is)? Or
something?
