Interesting. You're lucky, however, that the security program didn't lock the HD at the driver level. *Good* security programs do this (although I think with On Guard, it's an option that isn't enabled by default, since if you lose the password, you also lose the data) and there's no way around it - at least, not one that's ever been made public, as that would sort of defeat the purpose. (I have my suspicions that the publishers of such programs may have programmed back doors into the software for use in such situations, but there's no way to prove this.) >For those that are wondering, pressing shift on this machine >did not disable any extensions. Yep, smart security also allows the shift key to be locked out, and really paranoid security programs don't even allow this option to be turned off. >I just thought I'd share my workaround (een though it's been >done to death, I'm sure) with y'all. If someone uses it Never heard it before, actually. Of course, it's obscure enough that it's not a surprise - how many people try installing CC3 as a workaround? :) Keep it quiet, though - might send the price of CC3 disks through the roof on eBay ;) p the pickle FAQ <http://macfaq.org/index.shtml> Software Archive <ftp://download:[EMAIL PROTECTED]//Users/thepickl/Sites/Archive/> <http://www.members.jmug.org/%7Ethepickl/archive/> _________________________________________________________________ -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
