That's a funny thing. Because all of the mods in terms
of startup screens that were done in 7 could be done in
8. But something changed in how people viewed their
Macs in that time. It was when Apple began to be truly
corporate and the internet began to kill off the bmug
sensibility. There was a real changing of the guard at
that time. Yes, many, many websites have kept it alive
-- and it should stay alive -- but the information
stream was in transition around the release of OS8.
