Glasgow city council moved all their schools to a Windows network. On my desk I have a HP Vectra which has the full suite of Office tools and a (slow) internet connection. It also has FileMaker 5.5. Beside it is the machine I actually use which is a Mac Classic (rescued from the old school) with 4 MB RAM. It has System 6, TexEdit, and FileMaker 2.1. Everything is done on the Classic and then printed on the HP Vectra, new FileMaker can open the old files just fine. It also has lots of games which the kids use when they finish their work. Last week a power spike put all of the windows network out of commission for a couple of days, my Classic never bothered its shirt. At the other side of the room is a HP which had WinNT on it but I wiped that for Linux. At home I have an SE/30 connected to the hub then AirPort and then to the cable modem. It surfs fine and runs old email programs. aedan Apple iMac G4 - Flat out cool http://homepage.mac.com/aedan -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
