The first routers of this type were for modem connections.  Some such 
as Asante's can use broadband and have a dialup modem for backup. 
Thus you can go with modem for now and connect your broadband device 
later.  You can also do it with a Mac acting as the router using 
IPNetRouter.  That is how this message is getting sent.  I have over 
a dozen machines connected through a single 56K modem (not all 
simultaneously as a rule).
