Howdy,

Very quick question as I need to know this within the next hour :)

Can I swap a 25Mhz 68040 into a 575 motherboard? My query comes from the
fact that the 575's 68LC040 is a 33Mhz processor. Not sure if I need to find
a compatible speed processor.

Secondly, if this is possible would it give the old 575 much more kick?

Thanks,

Scott

Quick answer. Yes. But I don't know if you'll have any overheating problems.
I would do this and put a heat sink on the CPU.
Unless you do stuff that needs the math coprocessor you won't see much if any
difference.
But you could try it and see.
