Dan,

I pulled out my SE/30 tonight and tried again. I wonder if there's a
problem connecting from classic Mac OS to OS X 10.2 -- is that what
you're using? In the past, I was able to connect to 10.1 from my SE/30
running 7.5.3, but I get the same error message you got, when I try to
connect to 10.2 from 7.5.3.

I just figured out the problem -- for my installation anyway. I
remember how the "use_appletalk" property needed to be changed in
NetInfo, to get 10.1 sharing working? I checked that on my 10.2
servers, and it was set to "0." I reset it to "1" and restarted file
sharing, and was able to connect ... to both servers. Give that a try
and let me know if it works for you.

FYI, the "use_appletalk" property is under /config/AppleFileServer in
NetInfo.

Good luck.
