Actually, it's probably just a matter of sticking a boot floppy in and
figuring out what's up with the boot drive. Someone's probably killed
the System Software. Worst case is a reinstall of the OS.

  Compacts are not filling the thrift stores hereabouts as they seem to

elsewhere, but I have found one Classic. Problem : when turned on, it

cycles between the happy mac screen and the pointer-in-the-corner
screen. Is 
this machine salvagable by a non-proficient screwdriver jockey or is the

solution intricate and/or expensive? I haven't bought it, but the
temptation 
is working on me.
