in a fit of nostalgia i unpacked my 512ke yesterday and turned it on. i was dazzled at how fast it boots. and playing old games was nice too.
so i got the idea to try hooking it up to my powerbook g4 so i started reading up on this. could anyone here confirm if i have got the right ideas? 1. i have system 4.1 and i can run 6.0.x (available from apple) on it too. 2. both of these will allow the 512ke to run as an appleshare client. but i need the "AppleTalk Workstation Installer" to do that. however, i can't find out where i can get this. 3. i need a phonenet connector for the 512ke with a db9 connector on it. these seem to be available on ebay for about $2. 4. i need a phonenet-ethernet bridge. the asantetalk seems to be such a thing but is a bit pricy. is this correct? are there other options? thanks in advance c u fsb -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
