With an Asante EN/SC (Ethernet to SCSI converter) you can go as low as a Mac Plus. For built-in 10 BaseT Ethernet you can get PDS cards for the SE/30 and avoid the SCSI port altogether. (And the SE/30 would be faster handling network data anyways).
