I can now see the system file on the Plus (when booting from another disk). I have done all the 'blessing' tricks but it will not work. The Guided Tour is 690-5065-A and has s3.0/f5.1 (American English). The System Tools is B690-5064-B and has s3.2/f5.3 (British English). According to my User's Guide the former was the first created for the Plus in Jan 86 and the later was an upgrade created in June 86. I am I correct in thinking that the first 'B' denotes the language (absent on the American version) the numbers refer to the Plus and the final letter refers to the version number. Therefore would 690-5064-C be s4.0/f5.4 from Jan 87? Anyway, I have other disks to use so it is not too important, just another example of a Mac mystery.
