Yo compacters everywhere, I read where our -p (aka: the pickle) sez:
>Ask around. You can get fairly capable LaserWriter II-series machines for >about >the same price (or free, in lots of cases) that don't have the OS >issues that >the PLW series does.. Uhh... I've got me a Personal LaserWriter 300 here that plugs up to every Mac serial port I have running System 7.1 through 8.6 and it is just fine. Uhh, this includes my compact Macs so seems on topic here. Just what OS issues ought we to know about here. Remember, except for the occassional dabbling in the arcane arts of networking, I am a one Mac, one printer user most of the time who doesn't ever use PostScript. So if the OS issues relate to networking or PostScript, I'll save myself from saying "Oh" later by just saying it now. Oh. =) It works for me. And, bye the waye, I have a short growing pile of those older LaserWriter II-series, condition unknown, available free to any compacter who just happens to be in or visiting near Seattle... Well, not free. You must pay your own chiropractor for the back strain. Bill -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
