Hi All.. Thanks to some recent posts on this list ive managed to revive my classic II that suffered from checkerboard patterns and wasnt booting. Leonardo Ceriliani, in a post, suggested washing the logicboard, which i did. After a good scrub with an old toothbrush and washing up liquid on the circuit board, a rinse and a dry by the heater, Success. a fully working, Classic II :)
The area around u21 did seem very dirty and got some special attention. I guess this chip may have something to do with the memory addressing, causing the checkerboard..
