Hi, folks!

When I wrote my last mail about this matter, I stated the ProFile attached
to the computer via a standard Disk ][ drive port. I was wrong. It really
attaches via the Apple /// or Lisa parallel port. I have been doing some
research in the web and I have realized this, as well as other things.

The Lisa/Apple /// parallel port is a DB-25, like the PC one, but it has
different signal distribution. This has two reasons. First of all, the
Apple /// was released at about the same as the original IBM PC (the one
with 16 Kb of RAM). And second, the original PC parallel port was
unidirectional, while the original Apple /// parallel port was already
bi-directional. Ok, I'm going off the topic.

You can see the pinout of the Lisa parallel port (it's the same as in the
Apple ///) in http://www.cs.swarthmore.edu/~tom/cs23/final/ , just bellow
the title "The ProFile Protocol". The guy that asked the question said he
had a flat 25-pin ribbon with the wire from pin 7 cut off. As you can see
in the schema that is in the previous page, the pin 7 is the only not
connected pin. So I guess the cable is right.

I hope have been helpfull. Now I'm going to talk about another matter, so
I'll start another mail.

Greetings,

Antonio Rodrguez (Grijan)
