You compacters everywhere: To the unanswered question about Pina books:
<As I understand, the Larry Pina books are good place to start. Please are their any recommendations you experts could suggest on which book to start off with first, 2nd etc....... or other authors.> Yeah, the Pina books belong on your shelf. Ditto Stuart's remarks. My two cents worth is that the early versions of the Ted Landau "Sad Macs, Bombs, and Other Disasters" is a better starting read and more broadly useful than Pina. While I don't care for the Pina writing style, his books are very rich in useful details so long as your problem is wholly within your Mac and not software nor peripheral related. The only Pina book on my shelf is the "Dead Mac Scrolls" which is probably the best of the Pina books unless your need is specific and outside of this tome. (for Stuart: Okay, I'm a cultist!) Beyond these two writers, the field is large. And I buy a copy of everything priced at a buck or less at the thriftshops. Each and every tome on my growing bookshelf has at least one if not many good nuggets of information I haven't read elsewhere. Along the way, you will become steeped in so much Mac trivia as to amaze if not annoy any of your Mac friends. Best book sources are the Amazon, Half Price Books, and other book seller websites. eBay is okay but a long and iffy wait. And do not overlook the help and information sources endlessly linking out from lowendmac.com. You haven't enough days on the face of this earth to read them all. Google.com/Mac is as good an index as you will find for Mac online information. A good index is where printed books still excel over online data. That and the ability to scribble in your own marginal notes. Bill -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
