Try a different brand of CF. I've had experience with CF using a Powerbook
520 with card cage. Some CF work fine, and can be booted from. It can work
really slick. Other CF just hang the machine every time. Please don't give
up yet, because it would be a worthy thing to get it working and share the
whole technique.
