I tried using Stuffit Expander on the files I put in from floppies, but
apparently they are already expanded, when you try to open them, there are
none to select in the Open window in the folder where I put them. Their
icons are dogeared pages. All files were put on floppies in the PC using
TransMac, which is supposed to take care of the necessary conversions to
preserve all the resource forks etc. No problems getting those onto the Mac.
I also tried using another program existing on the Mac, ChunkJoiner. I
selected all 19 parts, dropped them onto the ChunkJoiner icon, and it mated
them all into 1 file. When I double-clicked that file, it tries to open it,
but I get an error -39, eofErr: End of file, according to
www-2.cs.cmu.edu/afs/cs/user/lenzo/html/mac_errors.html. So I am still
stuck! I managed to scrounge up another square mouse I had lying around. I
must have really creamed the hockey-puck mouse.....opened it up, the switch
click was busted, little switch pieces fell out, and after I shut down and
put the brick mouse on, I had no cursor movement or keyboard response! What
[EMAIL PROTECTED] Oh crap, something bad has happened to the ADB bus. I know
never to unplug while running, so I figured this could be terminal to the
motherboard. Not good. I replaced the keyboard with another badly grungy one
from an SE I had lying around (am I a Mac nut yet?! yard sales are my worst
downfall! ;) and thank goodness the cursor is once again alive, although I'm
sure it has a very large bruise somewhere from the WWF slam I did to the now
deceased mouse. Actually, I could fix it if I had another internal mouse
board. The click switch was smashed. Maybe I should take it out back and
give it a funeral......: ( .

'Til next time,
Gary
