Don't waste any money on a crossover cable. iBooks don't need them; you can connect a straight ethernet wire between an iBook and an older Mac and the iBook senses and adjusts to the backwards wiring.

Early (clamshell) iBooks don't have auto-mdi-x or whatever it's called, the dual USB does.
