<sorry>
Looking at the cheaper side... VIA Epia micro-itx mobos should fit, I can almost fit a standard micro-atx mobo with some work. Pear PC is nearing full functionality with OS X, really just missing sound and usb passthrough.
Pear PC? Not familiar with that. Look at the project entitled The "Mac-ITX" located at: http://www.mini-itx.com/projects/mac-itx/
Granted, he isn't running OS X, but you could run 8.1 via Basilisk. The guy also sent me a bitmap picture of another (Japanese) SE/30 conversion (not running Mac OS) with a slot load CD/DVD drive.
PearPC is a MacOS emulator that, as Joshua mentions, currently runs OSX 10.3.4 on win32, albeit slowly. SheepShaver now supports 9.0(.4?)last time I looked and sound at @ Basilisk II speed but is currently only useful under Nix (roll your own). It can be made to work using CoLinux under XP or Win2k which is quite fun (Gentoo). A suitable and properly dumped rom is required, which means you do not use the rom dumping tool that comes with basilisk.
Both programs are found easy enough through google while the forums here http://www.emaculation.com/ are of value. Sidebar.
Gwenole's site for Sheepshaver downloads is here

Please note the OSX port, it may prove to be of use for Newer MacOS users who would like some part of 7.5-9.0 without going through the ClassicOS and with some ppc support, unlike basilisk. I'm to believe it runs much faster on a mac, as it should.
Has anyone on the list gone through this type of conversion and care to share details?
I've toyed around with stuffing a Powerbook 150 into a compact case, but the screen is just a bit too big. Good luck and let us know what happens!
Some sort of laptop conversion may be the easiest way, no AGP(?) but that's old now away. ;) Micro pc boards are easy to find and well featured (onborad and agp, usb2 ect). Some thanks to apple for the cube is due I guess. Now that was a shame, almost bought one.
I was lucky enough to win a ebay item - POS monitor down here, as forwarned, the neck is very close to being to long to refit the back onto the Classic so a bit of shopping around is a must, sadly we dont have the depth down here. The Axion monitor works well at 1024x768x8, 16 at lower res.
Several monitors at the local tandy, home security type, look to be the right screen size and compact, whether they only do 8 or 16, I dont know. I also didn't ask about screen res or input, point is there maybe many more "left of centre" options for you to try and source, yes I'm looking for a cheap option.
Sorry for the Mac n Dos post. That list is sloowwww. Best of luck.
