As I said, for "creative writting" I use System 6.0.8 with MultiFinder enabled
and WriteNow 2.0, a very fast and reasonably featured couple. When I need to
convert files to and from my main Windows box, I use the RTF format and Word 5.0
via copy-paste - the major drawback of WriteNow 2.0 is that it doesn't support
any "modern" document format, nor plain text. Both WriteNow 2.0 and Word 5.0 run
happily under System 6.
I'm no expert (yet) but I do know that MacLink Plus can convert WriteNow files to almost anything else, though I don't know what version would work on a Plus. I have version 9.7--snagged it on eBay for around $10 delivered--which requires only System 6, but needs a 68020 or better processor. Of course, you could convert it on a newer Mac. BTW, I'm pretty sure Nisus Writer 4.1.6 (available for your e-mail address at Nisus' site) requires System 7.1. Nisus Compact seems elegant and works with 6, and there are still unopened copies of MacWrite Pro 1.0 that show up on eBay for a song.
Back to lurking.
