It's almost certainly not necessary to replace the caps. Nearly all of the
offending ones are power supply bypasses, and there are many more than
necessary. So a few dead ones here and there don't really make much difference.
Just clean off the goo they've been leaking, and you'll most likely be fine.
And seriously, the dishwasher method works extremely well. I rate the risk of
damage from that operation to be well below that of manually replacing a
zillion surface mount caps, especially if you're not experienced in that sort
of thing.
