I'll try this again, I could not post to the last message (sent email off-list instead).
www.newtontalk.net has some links to FAQs. You just need a regular mac printer cable to hook to any mac with a serial port. You can talk to it via serial or via appletalk. 2.0 MP120's need Newton Connection Utilities, 1.3 120's need Newton connectoin _Kit_. All software is available, see the FAQ at newtontalk.net and www.unna.org for software archives.
You can telnet on Newtons with pt100 software, from scrawlsoft. I don't see that a 120 has enough heap to do it will, it can barely run a PPP protocol (NIE). I might have made it work, barely, on my 120- I know it worked on a 130, which has a lot more heap.
Hope this helps (and gets posted).

I would also like to know the answer as I'm in the middle of a nostalgia kick so I'm fixing up old Macs and someone just gave me a Newton. It's the original one.
Also can I telnet into OSX with the Newton? I tried telnetting in with the Classic I fished out of the trash but all I can seem to do is send gibberish back and forth. :)

Here is a crazy question. A friend of mine gave me a Newton MP120, and it has a 8-pin serial connector on it. My SE30 also has these types of connectors, one is labeled as the modem and the other is a printer. I suspect that the modem is actually a serial port, right?
Now the real question is, does anyone know the pinout of the serial port? Or how about the Newton serial port? I bet it is a pretty standard thing, but I haven't been able to find anything yet. Any help or pointers would be great. Thanks
