I agree with what your doing to a point. The 512k and earlier machines have come to a time where ther're becoming something special, a remnent of the first practical generation, taking into consideration that most of us are just folks and not wizards.
Agreed, there are plenty of Plus's to go around for the average guy to have one and a spare for parts. But keep in mind that the plus parts that are considered everyday and common and being discarded on a daily basis will be the only parts available to keep an entire generation of machines up and running and are on their way to becoming special. As for most of the machines beyond the Plus, I feel they're only using proven technology and are just under powered versions of the same machines we see out there today only the sophisticated components that have been developed make the difference. When you have the ability to do something, you want to do things just because you can and you should be admired for yuor ambitions and capabilities but build a dual floppy SE with a hard driveor a classic/SE30 Or an SE30/PowerMac or some other impossible creation but I, Myself, believe these Plus and earlier machines snould be left in a condition where they can be restored to there original state, using only good or repaired original parts. I'm not knockin' you, I'm sure you have a lot of support in what your doing It's just my own personal opinion. Besides, it's your aunt Mary and Grandma Annie, not mine Jim =;^I --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote > The purpose of my experiments is > in fact to keep the older machines running and useful with as little surgery > as possible. > I shall refer to them as Aunt Mary and Grandma Annie for the rest of this > this clarification. --- >> From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >> >> Ther's not too many of those old machines out there to be foolin' with. >> Better a resurection, Than a mutalation. --- -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
