In reply too:

Putting a MacMini in a compact Mac was never even an imagined idea during
the SE's life, so such a mod has no place on this list, whether or not you
can do it without permanently altering the compact -- and under no
circumstances should any permanent mods be done to a 128k or 512k.

A day to day discussion of said mods should not be carried on, on this list.
They really need their own list. But the fact is that the list nanny's have
should support for said mods in the past, asking that an update as to progress
be posted now and then. The realty is, is that being able to modify a compact
with another mobo/drive etc is what keeps a lot of interest alive in them. I
see nothing wrong with that and in fact have my own project ongoing in which I
am putting an Imac mobo and drives in a Classic case.
