I have had very good success with FWB RAID tool kit sw in creating single, mirrored, and striped partitions. However, I only use this with non Apple drives. It works well even with OS 6.

Do you mean that it is possible to actually use a RAID array with a computer running System 6? Given the current avialability of multi-gygabyte drives, it doesn't make much sense to do it, save for the "being able of doing it" :-) . That's a good project for a lazy sunday afternoon, isn't it?

Greetings Antonio!

It is indeed possible! This is OT for this list but ..... I have a Mac IIfx in which I installed an FWB JackHammer SCSI card, along with two Seagate ST15150W 4Gb drives. Each drive is divided into two 2Gb partitions which are mirrored together (one from each drive).

So before anybody tells me how "wasteful" this is I want to just point out that I know that the card and drives are outperforming the NuBus but I want the fastest machine that can run OS 6 (not an emulation!). Just using wide drive doubles the throughput. The mirrors gives me data security, in case of drive failure.

If you want a faster Mac you can get them at your Goodwill or Apple Store ....

I do wish there was a way around the 2Gb limit for < OS 7.5.3. I have a bunch of 8Gb drives I'd love to use but it doesn't seem right to only use a quarter :-)
