I can help you out any way you need. :) I've done it all. My latest project is a Color Classic with an 040/33 (with FPU), 68m RAM, a Farallon Etherwave LC card, and OS 8.1. I am gonna put a 9 or 18GB drive on it externally and make it a Classic Mac software repository server.
I have a CDR I can hang off my Color Classic. I can burn a bootable 6.0.8 CD for you. :) Another way that works for me is to make a system 7.0 floppy with CD driver 5.3.2. That solution supports any CD drive. Then you can have your installers on a CD and install anything. How clean are they SE/30s?
