You can't use QT on every compact. The only ones that it will run on are the SE/30, Classic II, and Color Classic. The 68000s don't run it.
I have QT 1.2 but I think I left it in the storage vault that I know I'm not going to see again for at least a month. 2.5 should work, just check the system requirements. I was first aware of QT with a software package called "Kid Pix Companion" that came out in 1992. It had some simple animated movies that came with it. Being an educator I got to try it out and I actually got it for my own computer (plus Kid Pix) so that I could make simple animated QT movies! Imagine that--an old guy playing with a program designed for grade school kids! (Actually, if you read the old Mac Secrets books you find that Dave Pogue was a big Kid Pix fan too) If you can find a copy of that, or Kid Pix 2 (which is Kid Pix and the Companion all in one), you will be able to put together simple slide shows/movies on your old computers. It's limited to 99 frames but the frames can be set at 30 seconds each. I know there were transitions, I think there were 16 of them. The Kid Pix program reminds you of MacPaint but with cool tools like a tree generator and a clear-screen eraser that is a firecracker. Hope the 2.5 works for you.
