Hey folks...
I'm having a heck of a time trying to set up my Classic II with
this stupid Asante Mini EN/SC adapter.
<big snip>
I have a mini EN/SC and a Linksys MR314. The mini EN/SC works fine,
but mine must be different from yours. Mine has a single DB-25 on
it, so it has to be the last item in the chain.
This escapes me. Physically it's evident, but what kind of chain do
you build with DB-25s? I'm a long-time SCSI user and scared enough
by hooking up a Zip drive 25/25 followed by a scanner 25/50 with a
slide scanner and HD and external burner behind them, but a 25-only
multiple-device SCSI chain gives me a heart attack right away. Is
there a doctor in the house? <gasp>
The EN/SC I have (it is the PowerBook model) came with a weird SCSI
adapter forming something like a sideway from the chain having IIRC a
HDI-30 on one end and two DB-25 sockets back-to-back on the other,
which might allow the EN-SC to have a single DB-25. I didn't put it
to real use yet as it looked so adventurous and I am in the middle of
a move so I'll have to get back to this later, as I don't presently
have a working PowerBook 100 at hand.
Well mine didn't come with a cable, so I had to make do with what I
have on hand.
I probably had it hooked up to a HD with Centronics connectors, so it
went DB25 on Plus<-->Centronics on HD<-->DB25 on mini EN/SC.
And also, I have an old 10baseT hub around here, and I was in fact
probably using that between the mini EN/SC and the Linksys. It has
been a long time since I hooked it up, so I forgot that detail.
If needed, I can try pulling all that stuff out of the closet and
hooking it up.
Daniel
Thank you (everyone) for the help.
I am going to assume it is the dumb 10baseT hub that I am missing that
will make this setup work.
I will report back when I get a chance to test it this way.
