how he came to own Douglas Adam's IIfx:

enthusiasm about the Mac, one should have guessed from the episode in
one of the books - my memory is a bit hazy, but I guess it was the
first one in the detective series - where a sofa is rotated
repetitiously on the screen of a Mac II trying to find a way to get it
through a staircase, while the Mac II is found in the company of a
bazillion of compact Macs, at the latest count, I don't remember the
exact number, but it was incredible at the time.
DA was a fascinating personality; I remember seeing him on TV
interviewed by no other than Johnny Clegg (Remember "Asimbonanga" or
"Scatterlings of Africa" by Johnny Clegg and Savuka?). It was really
exciting, I managed to tape part of it. I read all of his books , of
course, although I regret having read "Rupert", the fifth book of the
trilogy, where he seems to have been in such a desperate state of
depression that he killed some of the most lovable characters of his
work. But that's the way life is. And I enjoy re-reading all of the
rest.
