Now that my Classic II has been resurrected from the dead, I have been
playing again.

I have managed to acquire a complete set of working original Apple
setup disks for a Classic II. They're not the ones for /my/ C2 but
they're appropriate. I've installed System 7.1 from them onto a Zip
100 disk in the C2's external SCSI Zip drive, but I can't get the
machine to boot from it. It will boot happily from its internal 200MB
drive (System 6.0.8L) or from its 265MB external drive (MacOS 7.6.1)
but not even try from the Zip. I've tried setting it in Control Panel
| Startup Disk in both Systems and I've tried Cmd-Opt-Shift-6 (the Zip
is on SCSI ID 6).

Is there anything else I can try?

I've read of people running a Plus solely from Zip, partly for its silence.

The only thing I can think of is that I've only got PC FAT-format Zip
disks. I couldn't find any way under Sys6 or 7.6 to reformat a FAT Zip
as a MacOS one, so I did it on my Beige G3 under OS 10.4, being
careful to use MacOS Standard format (HFS) instead of MacOS Extended
(HFS+) - as the latter is MacOS 8.1+ only and can only be booted on
PowerMacs.

Is there anything else I've missed?
