There is an external floppy drive called the AEHD+ that you can attach to a Mac Plus and similar older Macs giving it read/write capability for 1.4 floppy disks. You still have to boot the Plus from a smaller floppy or a hard drive. The AEHD+ units occasionally show up on eBay or swap lists. >your best bet is to get a serial cable and connect the two machines via >AppleTalk. No, that will not work unless you also have a localtalk to ethernet bridge and your OS X is version 10.2 or 10.3 (not 10.1 or 10.4). >If you must use floppy disks, you will need an intermediate machine >that can read/write both DD/800k floppies as well as as 1.4MB floppies. The intermediate machine can work for floppies and as a localtalk bridge. To use appletalk networking with OS X 10.1 or 10.4, you will want it running Mac OS 9. But why not get a slightly better machine, such as an SE FDHD, Mac Classic, or Mac LC which can run the same software as the Plus and has the 1.4 floppy drive built in? -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
