[companion-discuss] C compiler can't create output files

I've ran few configure scripts and it is always the same:
checking for C compiler default output file name... configure: error: C 
compiler cannot create executables
What does it mean? I have got cc, and I created gcc soft link to cc. It didn't 
work. I had no such problems under Linux, so I have no idea what do do. I've 
checked it as a superuser, and it is the same, so it is not the matter of 
privileges. Thanks for help.
