Unfortunately this isn't the right forum.

Fortunately, I can provide you with a fairly good answer.

First, the wikipedia page:

Finally, I have never heard of any licensing being required for the .au file 
format. It has always been a cross-platform open standard file format as far as 
I know, and no royalties are necessary to use it.

However, you really need to speak with a representative at SUN to get a legally 
backed answer.
