Sadly, 100% of X.Org's open-source libraries are now built with libtool.
We work around it as best as we can in the Solaris builds, with hacks like
making sure "make install" never actually installs any *.la files and
forcing ld flags through LD_OPTIONS to avoid libtool deciding it knows
better than we do what ld flags we want to use.
