How is your ".as" file different from an MP3 file.
Firstly ".as" files are based on MPEG 1 Layer 3 (also known as MP3)
compression. Because most music is copyrighted we have added anti-copy and
anti-piracy layers on top of the MP3 file. We also include information on
music copyright and artwork ownership, thus making ".as" a true multimedia
file format. In fact we have made ".as" a kind of secure MP3 file. Therefore
music labels can distribute their recordings on our distribution network
(including citymusic.com) without getting ripped off and in a manner that
complies with copyright legislation.
