Tips on using SoftHome.Net

GENERAL SMTP TIP
"To send mail by SMTP it is essential to collect mail from the
POP mailbox first
i.e. Softhome will not allow uploading mail alone, or before
using POP download."

TIP FOR OUTLOOK USERS
"According to SoftHome: "Escalation of the war against SPAM
requires that we must
authenticate SMTP sessions. Unfortunately, SMTP does not provide
for
authentication."

If you use Outlook Express (OE) 4 or 5, then you can have
SoftHome's SMTP
authenticate you as a legit user. Here's what to do:
*    Open OE.
*    Click on Tools/Accounts/Highlight your SoftHome account
*    Click on "Properties."
*    Select the "Servers" tab.
*    Under "Outgoing Mail Server", check off the box that says,
"My server
requires authentication."
*    Now click "Settings."
*    Click the radio button, "Log on using."
*    Fill in your login name and password. Click "Ok."
*    Click "Apply."

Now you can send email without having to go through the rigmarole
of checking
mail first or using the SMTP activation feature on SoftHome's Web
site. I'm not
familiar with other e-mail clients, but I'm sure they have this
feature as well."

Telkom.Net menggunakan cara yang sama dengan SoftHome.Net. Mereka
nggak
mengijinkan untuk mengirim mail dulu sebelum login menggunakan
pengambilan
e-mail. Artinya kudu ngambil dulu, baru bisa ngirim. Cara diatas
(tips untuk
softhome) juga bisa diterapkan untuk Telkom.net.
