IMHO, Adaptec 2400A is a hardware RAID, thus it is not susceptible to data
corruption if writing between it's own RAID channel.
But if you are using VIA chipset, and I believe you will boot the system
from the ATA disk outside the RAID system, you can still be affected with
the data corruption bug, since the problem lies in the chipset itself, not
within the ATA controller section.
To be fair, after I patched my system with Win2K SP2 and 4-in-1 3.1,
everything is OK. But I cannot speak the same for Linux, since I never
tried that before.
