I added locality to the light playouts - play near last or second to last
move, and some code to handle long ladders in playouts. I dont think this
is anything unusual.
Both should help 19x19, but I dont know why 9x9 would be damaged.
I have the same experience with Valkyria. For 9x9 all biases in the
search is turned off. Apparently search on 9x9 is so efficient that
introducing biases often cause inefficiencies.
