Thirteen years ago John Tromp bet that he wouldn't be beaten by a computer before the end of 2010, and I took him up on that. The story is here: http://dcook.org/gobet/
We now have a date and a venue: the match will take place in London at the very end of December. Thanks to the British Go Association for letting us share their space at the London Go Open tournament: there will be one room for the match, and another room where the games can be discussed as they are being played. Especial thanks to Nick Wedd, well-known on this list, for his energy and enthusiasm for this event; Nick will be the match referee. If you've any questions not answered by the web page (competition details are at http://dcook.org/gobet/details.html) let me know (Nick is preparing another web page describing the exact schedule, and directions to the event). If any computer go programmers or enthusiasts plan to be there perhaps we can have a birds-of-a-feather meetup? Darren P.S. The page has been translated into Japanese at: http://dcook.org/gobet/index.ja.html If you are interested in volunteering to do a translation into another language I'd be very keen to talk to you! -- Darren Cook, Software Researcher/Developer http://dcook.org/gobet/ (Shodan Go Bet - who will win?) http://dcook.org/work/ (About me and my work) http://dcook.org/blogs.html (My blogs and articles) _______________________________________________ Computer-go mailing list Computer-go@dvandva.org http://dvandva.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/computer-go
