Since your 'friend' obviously did not know what he was doing when he
re-installed your OS
(since HP/Compaq notebooks come with a recovery partition which allows
for the re-installation
of the OS to factory condition which includes all the motherboard
devices - such as the SM BUS
controller which you indicate has the Yellow ? - and add-on devices
which the machine has
installed) the simplest thing for you to do, since you admit to being
a complete novice is to:
Download and install them all!! The only caveat - only download the
ones for your machine/
device. For example - if yours has an Atheros Wireless adapter but the
only download
is for a Broadcom device then this would not make sense to download
and install.

Once this has been done get back to us as to what still has a problem

By the way... It is on your recovery partition or recovery/install
disk that the factory
supplied drivers are located. If your 'friend' wiped the recovery
partition or you have
lost the recovery/install disk then you may have to get a copy from HP/
Compaq.
