Oh!!!....so that's why it doesn't always turn off! Actually a friend just told me that he had this same issue, which it took a tech call to the computer support line to straighten out. Of course, how many switches or buttons to turn things on/off require you to hold them down for several seconds?

I've been told that the power-off buttons are designed to work this way to prevent a user from bumping them and having the computer shut down while the hard drive is spinning. It might be nice though if they told you this in the basic instructions.
