I must have mis-read the original post. I was talking about tower model Macs when I said that the level of difficulty was on a par with hooking up your home stereo. If your looking to upgrade the innards of a Powerbook / MacBook then I would look at the disassembly guides at http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/ and decide if your model lends itself to minor or major surgery. I just completely disassembled an Aluminum Powerbook down to an empty shell using the guides there and I'm typing now on that computer. Of course I spent a few years as an electronic technician many moons ago so my threshold of pain for such things may be different. ;-)

Pay attention! You missed a good response from Riley:

"Yes, yes & yes. The parts basically snap into place and plug in with
about the complexity of a home stereo. A few places on the net that
sell otherwise generic computer memory and hard drives with a Mac user
centric support focus are :

www.macsales.com
www.transintl.com
www.ifixit.com"

Interesting that this is the first reply on my note that I've gotten! Now I have to wonder what others came through but didn't make it to me.
:-(

Thanks for your answer tho.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving
safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in
sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used
up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!" Have a
wonderful day!
