Meant to say to get iLife version before iLife '08, as new iMovie is
missing some features. iMovie HD v.6/7 is better, until the 2008 version
is revised.

iLife apps can create HD [warning, get , and are bundled free on
consumer Macs [above]. If she wants more features, she can pay for Final
Cut Express, or play with Avid Free DV. I never liked Premiere; it was
tedious and cumbersome. Yes, there are some good programs for Windows,
but I haven't used any recently that are better or even comparable to
the Mac programs. They make you work harder for the same results.
